Association celebrates Chinese New Year

The Taiwan Business Association of Brunei Darussalam will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year in June while the association’s Annual General Meeting to elect office-bearer will be held in either March or April.

This was announced by the association’s President Richard Chuang Hsi Shan during the Chinese New Year reception at a restaurant in Gadong yesterday.

Richard Chuang Hsi Shan who is the Managing Director of Golden Corporation also disclosed that he will not be running for another term as president of the association.

Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Brunei Darussalam Andrew HC Lee and his spouse were the guests of honour.

Andrew HC Lee acknowledged the contribution of Taiwanese businessmen in Brunei Darussalam’s economic development.

He also noted the success of Golden Corporation for its organic blue shrimp production and the signing of Oman Brunei Investment Company (OBIC) acquiring 50 per cent shares of Golden Corporation Sdn Bhd (GC) last year which will inject more funds to boost Golden Corporation’s future development.

He also conveyed Chinese New Year greetings to the guests and the local Chinese community.

The evening included the tossing of ‘Yee Sang’ as a symbol of prosperity, and a lucky draw.

Twelve students from Chihlee University of Technology from Taiwan also attended the celebration.
