The Foreign Press Visit Programme hosted by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs concluded on a high note on Monday, with a visit to the Tsukuba Space Centre in Tsukuba Science City, one of the organisations under the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).
At the Space Station Operation Facility (Mission Control Room: MCR), the experience was made more memorable by the presence of JAXA astronaut Kimiya Yui, who briefed the visiting journalists from Asean member states on the daily operations at the facility.
Yui also listed activities at the International Space Station (ISS), and responded to queries.
Earlier, the visiting ASEAN journalists were welcomed by JAXA senior officials and ushered to the Public Relations/Information Building Press Conference Room for a brief presentation, before proceeding to the Exhibition Hall at the Space Dome.
The journalists were given a guided tour at the Space Dome by Science Coordinator Matsubara Shoji, and gained insights on JAXA’s space activities.
The visit concluded with presentations on JAXA’s Space Activity in ASEAN at the Press Conference Room.
