Arabic school champions of Tausyeh competition

FEMALE students from Hassanal Bolkiah Arabic Boys Secondary School emerged as champions in the finals of Tausyeh competition among pre-university schools and Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) with a score of 90 per cent, followed by Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah with 86 per cent and Duli Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah College with 83.6 per cent.

The finals was held yesterday at Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre.

Guest of honour Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar presented the prizes.

This year, 11 female Tausyeh teams from sixth form centres, colleges and IBTE from Ministry of Education and Ministry of Religious Affairs participated in the competition and five teams competed in the finals yesterday.

Principal of Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre Haji Jafri bin Haji Suhaili said the competition aimed to find new talents among students in Tausyeh and in Arabic Language, instil spirits in nation building and human development and instil love towards Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

The competition, organised by the Co-Curriculum Education Department of the Ministry of Education, also aimed to raise students’ competitiveness as well as forge closer ties among students.
