Almerez FC recently hosted an appreciation dinner reception for the official sponsor of this year’s Brunei Futsal League.

Held at the Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD) House, the reception was to recognise sponsors for the continuous support to the club.

Almerez FC’s Manager, Pengiran Haji Kamarunsalehin bin Pengiran Haji Kamis in his opening remarks shared, “Looking back on the club’s journey since its establishment in 2018, many achievements and progress have been achieved in a short time.”

He continued, “The establishment of this club began with the setting up of a futsal academy aiming to develop young players to engage in the modern game of futsal. At the same time, we found that the academy graduates not only developed themselves for the futsal game, but were also able to use their knowledge in soccer. Until now, many graduates of the academy have been successful and competed in the Brunei Super League and also in the Singapore Premier League.”

Pengiran Haji Kamarunsalehin highlighted the importance of knowledge adding that the club has vastly invested in education and development and strengthened the coaching unit.

“The coaches are also very active in learning more about modern futsal, with the club often commmunicating with coaches at ASEAN and international level”.

Some of the club’s achievements in the past years include Almerez FC becoming the first futsal organisation to officially be FABD members in 2020. In the same year, Almerez FC was the first futsal club in the country to produce a professional player Muhammad Radhi bin Raduan who was transferred to Sarawak United FC to participate in the Malaysia Premier Futsal League in the 2020 season.

In 2023, Almerez FC again managed to produce another professional player Muhammad Nasyrul Wafiy bin Haji Hassan who was transferred to Kuala Lumpur City FC to compete in the Malaysia Premier Futsal League for the 2023 season. In addition, coaches of Almerez FC were given the trust and responsbility by FABD to train and carry out preparations for the national futsal team for the AFF Futsal Championship 2022.

Meanwhile, Almerez FC managed to enter in the final of Brunei Futsal Cup 2022 with the team taking second place.
