The Mosque Affairs Department held a ceremony to appoint members for the new Nationwide Mosque Youth Group Supreme Committee for the year 2022-2024 at the multi-purpose hall of the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kampong Kiarong yesterday.
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim presented the appointment letters.
The appointment of new members for the Supreme Committee is one of the Youth Unit’s initiatives to uphold His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s goal to develop youth with a vision for the nation.
The Supreme Committee acts as a platform to strengthen bonds and contribute towards the development and progression of mosque youth groups in the Sultanate.
“One of our main goals is to reach out to all mosque youth groups in the country and provide support as well as share knowledge and skills to make their group more efficient,” said newly appointed chairman of the Supreme Committee, Muhammad Hajid bin Mirhasan.
The youth chairman further stated that the Supreme Committee will provide guidelines to help the various mosque youth groups be more efficient.
“The guidelines will help to highlight the strengths and weaknesses within the groups. This is where we will provide assistance such as setting up social media platforms or the planning and execution of events,” he shared.
The newly appointed chairman also highlighted the implementation of centralised training which will be used to disseminate knowledge to all mosque youth in the country, either face-to-face or online.
The Mosque Affairs Department through the Youth Unit under the Imarah Division is responsible for running the administration and management of Mosque Youth groups throughout the country which have shown a strong growth in annual membership.
