Answering the call for prayers

The online Malam Munajat continues to receive encouraging response from Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) officials the public.

The night of the Zikir prayers, organised by MoRA every Saturday, allows participants to strengthen their connection with Allah the Almighty.

It also aims to seek forgiveness through Istighfar, recitation of Surah Yaasiin, Zikir, Selawat and Doa, with the hope that Allah the Almighty will free the nation of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof and State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned participated in Saturday’s event.

Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin reminded participants on Malam Munajat’s main objective, adding, “Amid the second wave of COVID-19 outbreak, we are complementing medical efforts with spiritual ones so that the populace, under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, will always be under the protection of Allah the Almighty.

“By Allah the Almighty’s will, through such practical and spiritual efforts like this, He will assist us. The link to connect to Allah the Almighty through Munajat is via Doa, Zikir, Istighfar and Taubat, meaning to admit our mistake with the hope that Allah the Almighty will forgive our sins,” he said.

Meanwhile, Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz reiterated His Majesty’s titah to mark the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), which underlined Selawat (or sending salutations to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)) as being a ‘sharp’ form of prayer to help realise our intentions.

In the titah, His Majesty had called on the Ummah to multiply Selawat for Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as an effort to free the nation from the clutches of COVID-19.

Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Fiscal) Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Legislative Council (LegCo) members Yang Berhormat Iswandy bin Ahmad, Yang Berhormat Haji Mohimin bin Haji Johari @ Jahari and Yang Berhormat Haji Emran bin Haji Sabtu; and Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to Germany Pengiran Hajah Krtini binti Pengiran Haji Tahir, Permanent Secretary at the MoRA Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim, Deputy Permanent Secretary Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang, directors and senior officers from MoRA also participated. Malam Munajat began with the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah led by Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom, followed by Surah Yaasiin led by Special Senior Duties Officer at the MoRA Haji Mohd Albi bin Haji Ibrahim.

Director of Islamic Legal Unit at the MoRA Haji Hardifadhillah bin Haji Mohd Salleh read Doa Yaasiin.

The Zikir Istighfar and Taubah were led by Acting Director of Administration at the MoRA Mohammad Sofian bin Haji Basri, while Doa against COVID-19 was read by Acting Secretary of Brunei Islamic Religious Council Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Akop.

Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) Education Officer Mohammad Noor bin Haji Ibrahim led the mass recitation of Selawat Munjiyyah.

The ceremony ended with Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam by Mosque Officer at Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque Begawan Mudim Haji Amran bin Haji Mohd Salleh.
