Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd held a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony in conjunction with its 50th anniversary at Zainab Mosque in Lumut yesterday.
Guest honour, Deputy Minister of Energy Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw was welcomed by Senior General Manager Plant of Brunei LNG Haji Mohd Jaafar bin Haji Bakar.
Human Resources, Communications and External Relations Manager Mizan Adiliah binti Haji Mohamad Deli was also present.
Legislative Council (LegCo) member and Penghulu of Mukim Liang Yang Berhormat Haji Abdul Hamid bin Haji Mumin; senior government officials; management, staff and retirees from Brunei LNG; management from Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP), Brunei Gas Carriers Sdn Bhd (BGC); representatives from neighbouring companies and business partners; and members of the Mukim Liang Lumut community attended the event.
Data Record Management Lead and Secretary of the Muslim Employees Body at Brunei LNG Hajah Suriwati binti Haji Morsidi said, “The preparation for the Khatam that we made include reading Al-Quran after every Maghrib prayer, and helping each other with their recitation.”
She hoped similar ceremonies will continue in the future to help bring together staff members from various departments in achieving a singular goal.
A total of 50 participants comprising staff and business partners of Brunei LNG took part in the event.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Haji Mohd Jaafar bin Haji Awang Bakar, followed by the recitation of various Surah-Surah Lazim and a Doa Khatam led by BSP Junior Guidance Counsellor Muhammad Najmuddin bin Haji Muhd Said.
The ceremony continued with a Dikir Marhaban and the sprinkling of scented flowers by the guest of honour, guests and family members.
It was followed by recitation of the Doa Selamat, Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam, and Doa Kesyukuran led by the Imam of the mosque Soffian bin Bidin.
The event also saw the presentation of Waqaf of Takhtim books and Surah Yaasiin books to the mosque by Dato Haji Matsatejo from Brunei LNG to Imam of the mosque, and concluded with the presentation of souvenir from Haji Mohd Jaafar to the guest of honour.
Brunei LNG through its Muslim Employees Body has organised the Khatam Al-Quran continuously every year, which serves to strengthen relations and encourage a love for Al-Quran reading among its employees and business partners.
