Ambassador meets Thai students at UNISSA

Univerisiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) hosted meet-and-greet session recently for the Thai students pursuing studies in UNISSA and Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Brunei Darussalam Wanthanee Viputwongsakul.

The ambassador was welcomed by Rector of UNISSA Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal.

The meeting discussed the students studies and also saw the handing over of sports equipment to the Thai students. There are 42 full-time students from Thailand where 34 student are following the Bachelor’s Degree, four Master’s degree and four Doctor of Philosophy programme.

Since 2013, UNISSA has organised students’ exchange programmes involving 24 students from College of Islamic Studies, Prince of Songkla University for a one-year academic session at UNISSA.

During their study at UNISSA, the students learn Islamic studies subjects aside from English Language and Arabic Language.

UNISSA has also appointed an academician from Thailand as Director of Halalan Thayyiban Research Centre to assist develop UNISSA, especially in the field of Halal research. The ambassador expressed her gratitude to UNISSA and hoped that the students will continuously gain knowledge.

The contribution of the sports equipment to the Thai students was part of the efforts taken by the Royal Thai Embassy to motivate students in their studies.

Also present during the meeting were Minister Counsellor at the Royal Thai Embassy in Brunei Darussalam Pratuangtip Sirivitaes and Acting Deputy Rector of UNISSA Dr Arman bin Haji Asmad.
