Almost 70 per cent isolation centres occupied, another set up as spare

Almost 70 per cent of isolation centres are currently occupied for those in Category 1, but if their place of residence is fitting, then they will possibly be allowed to isolate in their own homes. However, the Ministry of Health (MoH) prefers for cases to be isolated at the isolation centres for now.

This was stated by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar during a press conference yesterday in response to a question on the current capacity of isolation centres as Brunei has breached the 2,000 mark recently.

The minister added that once isolation centres are in full capacity, the MoH will consider relocating those in Category 1 to other places. But there is also currently one more premise that has been prepped as the next isolation centre.

“All in all, with all the isolation centres we have now, we can accommodate up to 3,000 people,” said the minister.
