Prosecutors yesterday arraigned a 22-year-old local man in the High Court over charges of raping his niece repeatedly.
Standing in the dock before Judicial Commissioner Haji Abdullah Soefri bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, the defendant denied the charges drafted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Fitri Kiprawi, alleging him of raping his niece repeatedly from when she was 12-years-old in 2019 until May 2020.
The court ordered the defendant remanded and fixed trial to run in October.
Each of the four charges against the defendant carry penalties of up to 30 years’ jail and 12 canings.
