THE all-new BMW X5 was revealed last Saturday night in an exclusive media launch event held at the BMW showroom in Beribi.
According to QAF Auto, the sole importer and distributor of BMW and MINI vehicles in Brunei, the new model revealed was the BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport.
“Today, the all-new BMW X5 continues to excite with eye-catching off-road attributes and assured performance on rough ground combined with the premium characteristics and signature dynamics of a BMW,” said QAF Auto General Manager Sivakumar Krishnan at the launch.
“The all-new BMW X5 boasts many other features that we’re certain will be a hit with customers in Brunei, but the two key ones include the all-new Reversing Assistant, a function that takes over steering to manoeuvre the vehicle along a path recently negotiated forwards, and the new BMW Operating System 7, a software package underpinning the cutting-edge, fully digital display and control concept that is geared even more closely to the driver’s personal needs in order to optimise attention control.”
Krishnan added that the new model will be available in a seven-seater version for buyers with larger families and those wanting that extra space in their ride.
He also extended his thanks to the local media for their coverage of the company’s vehicles, “I would like to take the opportunity to extend my deepest appreciation and gratitude to our respected media representatives and friends for the excellent coverage and stories that we have been getting in the past. I hope that we continue this positive relationship.”
The evening continued with the media guests being treated to an appreciation dinner. There was also an introduction of the BMW X1 sDrive18i M Sport’s new engine, as well as a lucky draw which featured prizes such as air tickets to selected destinations and smartphones.
Affectionately known as “The Boss” among its devotees, the BMW X5 is the first Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) of its kind, and widely recognised as the founding father of the BMW X model family.
The X5 is also the market leader in the premium all-wheel drive segment, with more than 2.2 million units sold worldwide across its three generations.
