Alcoholic beverages worth RM11,695 seized in Selangor

SHAH ALAM (Bernama) – The Selangor State Health Department seized 831 bottles and cans of liquor worth RM11,695 in a statewide operation recently.

State Health Director Datuk Dr Khalid Ibrahim said the liquor was seized following inspections at 92 premises in the state for failing to comply with labelling requirements for alcoholic beverages as stipulated under the Food Regulations 1985.

“In addition, 15 notices under Section 32B of the Food Act 1983 for various compoundable offences with a total compound value of RM52,500 were issued.

“The most common compoundable offence is the trader’s failure to display the notice that ‘consuming alcoholic beverages can endanger health’ in front of where alcoholic beverages are placed for sale,” he said in a statement yesterday.
