Male champion of the National Al-Quran Reading Competition for Adults for 1443 Hijrah/2022 Muhammad Zul-Hafiz bin Tengah shared that an Al-Quran reading workshop facilitated by an invited Malaysian Qari before the competition helped him claim his victory.

“The workshop was very beneficial as we were given the opportunity to refine our reading and learn from experienced Qaris, as well as practice with others,” he said.

Speaking to the Weekend Bulletin, Muhammad Zul-Hafiz bin Tengah expressed gratitude to Allah the Almighty and thanked his family including his wife for their support.

The Qari champion has been competing in Al-Quran reading since secondary school, participating as a Form Six student in the National Youth Al-Quran reading competition in 2007.

He encouraged youth with talent and interest in competitive Al-Quran reading to come forward and participate in the competitions in the Sultanate.

Qariah champion Dayangku Fauziah Nadhirah binti Pengiran Haji Jofri said that aside from workshops, she also practices with her parents including her mother, who won The Majlis Tilawah Al-Quran International level competition in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia back in 2002.

A first-time champion, Dayangku Fauziah Nadhirah said the night was memorable and thanked Allah the Almighty for the rezeki and the support from friends and family.

She encouraged those with talent to always learn and find ways to improve their techniques and develop their skills.
