After 27 years as a tenant at the Wisma Jaya Building in the capital, AIA Brunei officially moved to its new office premises in Pavo Point yesterday.

Regional Chief Executive of AIA Group Tan Hak Leh and CEO of AIA Singapore Patrick Teow were guests of honour at the opening ceremony.

AIA Brunei General Manager Kenneth Ling said, “Over the past 60 years, AIA Brunei has grown to be the trusted insurer in Brunei Darussalam. It’s time to give a facelift to our corporate image.”

He added that the renovation project involved many parties – the AIA Real Estate department, the information technology (IT) team from AIA Singapore and the Corporate Security from its group office in Hong Kong.

“This is the office that we can all be very proud of. It uplifts our corporate image and delivers our brand promise of engaging our customers with healthier, longer and better lives. AIA was established in the year 1919, so this is our 100th year in existence. What a wonderful way to celebrate our centennial,” he said.

Patrick Teow said that AlA Brunei is the leading conventional life insurer in terms of market share.

“The history of AIA Brunei goes back to when it was first established in 1957 as one of the insurance companies to set foot in the country. From a humble beginning we have expanded to where we are today,” he said.

“AIA Brunei has become a trusted household name for the past 62 years and has grown to provide innovative solutions and lifelong support to customers, and with the facilities at the new premises, it will continue to serve AlA customers well.

Regional Chief Executive of AIA Group Tan Hak Leh thanked its partners and stakeholders, including the Brunei insurance authority, for their guidance and support.

“Life insurance business is a very long-term business,” he said, adding, “Each time we sell a lifetime insurance policy, we give commitments and promises for long-term financial security and long-term peace of mind to customers.”

Tan also expressed his delight at the new office premises located next to the Tamu in Kianggeh. “AIA Brunei is not just the biggest life insurance company in Brunei with a strong sales force, but it is also a life insurance company with the best facilities and the best office,” he said.

The official opening was marked with an unveiling of the plaque by the guests of honour, together with Kenneth Ling and AIA Brunei Chief Distribution Officer Wong Sze Keed.

Following the unveiling, the guests of honour toured the premises.
