The experienced pool player, who had a runner-up finish in the 9-Ball Empire Grand Opening Tournament in Kuching last June, made a flawless run in the last-16 stage following a 8-0 win over Malaysia’s Loo Yew Keat.
Two local players reached the top-32 stage with Haji Muhammad Khairuddin bin Haji Hasnan falling to a 7-3 defeat to Loo Yew Keat while his compatriot Mohammad Qusyairi bin Zainuddin was edged 7-6 by Singapore’s Darren Young.
