AH United made the perfect response to their recent cup exit with a 2-0 win over plucky PBDB in the round of 16 of the Al Idrus Football League Championship at the Jerudong Mini Stadium on Friday.

The tournament dark horse were unceremoniously dumped by PBDB’s group stage rivals RB Veteran earlier this month, but their journey in the league championship continued.

Brunei’s footballing legend Rosanan Samak rolled back the years with a precise effort in the 40th minute before Nikles Mulok doubled the lead three minutes later.

The revival came after veteran giants PSJD put their cup woes firmly behind them with a 3-0 victory over PMS thanks to a brace from Haji Annuar bin Haji Seidil and Ukoi Anam.

The Tutong-based side bounced back from a narrow defeat to favourites Al Idrus FT in a contest labelled the clash of the titans.

AKSE Bersatu are also in the hat of the remaining teams left in the competition after coming through on penalties against TJ FC.

Riwayat became the first team to progress to the quarterfinals of the Al Idrus Football League Championship after a 9-0 dismantling of Paguma FT.

The competition continues today with Al Idrus FT, who are gunning for a league and cup double, taking on Al Idrus SC in a highly-anticipated clash at the Royal Brunei Recreation Centre Field.

Both Al Idrus teams are also on course for a possible meeting in the final of the Al Idrus FA Cup following their progress to the quarterfinals.
