Agencies prepare for an emergency

Some 200 personnel from government agencies and other stakeholders took part in a two-day Brunei International Airport Emergency Tabletop Exercise (TTX) that ended yesterday.

The TTX tests the emergency preparedness at the airport using existing procedures, said the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) in a press statement.

The exercise aimed at providing an understanding of the emergency plan for Brunei International Airport and to maintain readiness for unforeseen emergency scenarios, such as an aircraft crash.

It also evaluated an agency’s internal standard operating procedures (SOPs) for strengths and weaknesses, and gave constructive feedback to agencies to strengthen the overall crisis management framework.

The exercise was preceded by an Airport Emergency Plan Seminar on November 28 to run through final SOPs with related agencies, to make any final decisions and to disseminate tabletop exercise information to the public.

The exercise involved personnel from the Royal Brunei Police Force, Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Ministry of Health and several other stakeholders.
