BOUSTEAD Sdn Bhd, the distributor of Suzuki cars in Brunei Darussalam, officially launched its most anticipated the fourth generation of Jimny at the Suzuki showroom in Gadong yesterday.

The new Jimny is displayed at the showroom in several different themes to show that it is suitable for many purposes, including outdoor adventure where the showroom is decorated like a beach with a tent and campfire.

The display shows the new Jimny is suitable for all, be it driving in the city or going off-road.

Since 1970, Jimny Sierra has been well-known for being tough and can be used in any terrains. After almost 20 years since the introduction of Jimny’s third generation in 1998, the wait is finally over for Jimny fans in Brunei as Suzuki upgraded the Jimny to make it even more attractive and further enhanced its off-road functions and performance.

The new Jimny carries the core concept of a “small, lightweight 4WD vehicle” behind nearly 50 years of worldwide popularity.

The body of the new Jimny is upgraded with a square-shaped body for better situational awareness, strong body built for rough terrain and details for uncompromised off-road capability and utility.

Several design elements were inherited from past generations which create a familiar yet distinct Jimny look to satisfy the young generation looking for a unique-shaped car to stand out in a crowd.

The exterior is precisely designed for functionality with only minimal decorations.

It is available in five single-tone colours and three two-tone colours including a colour which is designed to stand out: “Kinetic Yellow” (high visibility colour), thus, suitable for adventurers who need to be noticeable while travelling in harsh road conditions.

Inside, it is designed for fans of outdoor activities because it prioritises practicality off the road with a black interior to minimise distraction and controls which are easy to handle as well as while wearing gloves.

The square body of the upgraded Jimny contributes to a more comfortable interior which provides more space for the driver and passengers including more legroom and headroom.

Further, the luggage space of the new Jimny is wider than the previous ones which is appropriate for many reasons during professional use and rough road adventures.

Designed for professionals, it features ALLGRIP PRO to meet the driver’s spirit of adventure and gives the driver confidence to explore challenges.

ALLGRIP PRO has four essential features to handle harsh off-road conditions. First, it has a ladder frame structure where a new “X-member” and two additional cross members have been added in the new Jimny to increase torsional rigidity suitable for off-road use.

Second, the angle approach, ramp breakover and departure angle have been improved allowing the new Jimny to climb over obstacles and steep hills confidently.

Next, the long-stroke three-link suspension is teamed with rigid full-width axles on both the front and rear to support strong traction or uneven terrain in which the flexural strength has been increased by 30 per cent.

Finally, similar to the previous Jimny, a part-time 4WD system with low range transfer gear is adopted for the new Jimny.

The mode switching between 2H, 4H and 4L is controlled by a shift lever instead of buttons.

The upgraded Jimny is the first Suzuki’s model in Brunei to be equipped with a newly-developed 1.5 litre engine, hence, creates strong torque for powerful off-road performance than the previous Jimny and delivers high fuel efficiency due to a lightweight compact design.

Additionally, several new features have been adopted in the engine to improve its performance and reliability including a new lightweight resin belt cover to protect the belts when driving on rough roads and a new resin fuel tank which is greater resistance to rust.

Safety technologies have been enhanced specifically for outdoor adventurers where the new Jimny features Hill Hold Control which makes hill starts easier by preventing the car from rolling backward, Hill Descent Control which automatically applies the brakes when travelling downhill and Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) which detects wheel slippage to give the drivers peace of mind when driving off-road.

The body frame centres on Suzuki’s Total Effective Control Technology (TECT) concept, resulting in a structure that efficiently absorbs and disperses energy in the event of a collision.

These technologies have improved further the safety of the new Jimny which makes it the perfect choice for the car buyer who likes adventure.

Members of the public can have a closer look of the new Jimny at Suzuki’s showroom in Gadong as well as to see and experience the Jimny professionalism yet sporty-look theme of the showroom until today.

Limited edition Jimny door gifts are also provided during the two days event which cannot be obtained anywhere else but at the showroom in Gadong.
