ADI Said recorded a first assist for UiTM FC during the 3-3 draw with Kelantan FA in the Malaysia Premier League at the UiTM Stadium in Shah Alam on Friday.
The Brunei Darussalam international took the corner which led to a headed goal from the club’s other import Zarko Korac in the 24th minute.
Adi came close to provide an assist earlier during the match after he fed Zarko with a diagonal ball but the forward curled his effort agonisingly wide.
The set-piece specialist nearly contributed with a second assist for UiTM FC after a teammate latched onto his in-swinging corner but the header was turned away by the Kelantan’s goalkeeper.
The forward was involved in his team’s six of their first seven goals in the league including a memorable brace on his debut.
The former DPMM FC player, who registered 11 goals and 10 assists in his final season in the Singapore Premier League, has come close with an assist in previous matches.
The Lion Troops climbed into second place having accumulated 10 points in their opening five matches and trailed league leaders Johor Darul Ta’zim, who have a game in hand, by two points.
Zarko struck a fine effort to present UiTM the lead after he was set up by Nur Areff Kamaruddin. Kelantan’s Flavio was at fault after his misplaced pass was picked up by Nur Areff.
But Flavio later made amends after reducing his side’s deficit in the 35th minute.
The Red Warriors drew level through Nik Azli Nik Alias before taking the lead through Fauzi Roslan in the 82nd minute.
Zarko completed his hat-trick two minutes later and rescued his side a point after he was set up by Afif Asyraf.
Adi’s performances have caught the eye of Malaysia footballing scene after he was nominated as one of the candidates for player of the month in February in the Malaysia Premier League.
