The total number of active COVID-19 cases in the country stands at 2,008 cases after 379 new cases were reported. Of this, 377 cases were following ART tests and two cases were as a result of 196 RT-PCR laboratory tests performed in the past 24 hours.
With the latest number of cases, Brunei’s total number of COVID-19 cases to date is 150,058 cases.
Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar shared this at the daily press conference yesterday, adding that “in term of Categories 4 and 5 there are no cases in Category 5 requiring treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU). Two Category 4 cases require oxygen assistance and are under close monitoring”.
Meanwhile, 242 cases recovered yesterday, bringing the number of recovered cases to 147,827.
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health Haji Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin was also present at the press conference.
Meanwhile, 16 first doses and 71 second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered to children aged five to 11 on Friday. This brings first dose vaccinations administered to the age group to 81.8 per cent and the second dose vaccination to 53.4 per cent.
The coverage rate for the country’s citizens and residents who have received three doses of the vaccine is at 70.9 per cent.
Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham also announced that the Community Isolation Center (CIC) at the National Service Programme Training Camp (PKBN) Temburong District and Brunei COVID-19 Airlab BRIDEX Jerudong (BCAL) will close tomorrow and on Wednesday.
Sample analysis for RT-PCR SARS-C0V-2 tests will be tested by the National Virology Reference Laboratory in Kampong Sumbiling.
