The role of a penghulu or village head at the grassroots level is vital as they act as the medium between the people and the government.
They not only manage the villagers’ welfare and well-being, but also address the issues and problems, said Acting Village Head of Kampong Kulapis Mohamad Asyramisyanie bin Kamis at the royal get together in Brunei Muara District yesterday.
“They also play an important role in ensuring the participation of the residences for the get-together under mukim and kampong institutions at their zones.
The opportunity to meet and greet His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam is an honour for all participants,” he said.
Mohamad Asyramisyanie was also involved in supervising the stage performance and preparation for the event to ensure the smooth running of the rehearsal and preparations, as well as advising and providing suggestions when needed.
“In any major event such as the royal get-together ceremony, we may encounter challenges and therefore effective coordination and communication are vital to ensuring the event runs without a hitch,” he said.
Acting Village Head of Kampong Sungai Akar Hasrulraizan bin Haji Kahar expressed that it is an important role, to shoulder tasks as a grassroots leader.
He believed that the royal get-together created an opportunity for the people to express their gratitude to bridge them with the Government of His Majesty, he said.
‘’The ceremony served as a platform for villagers to personally meet the monarch to express their loyalty and love,” he added.
Acting Village Head of STKRJ Kampong Katok ‘B’ Captain (Rtd) Pengiran Muhd Redzuan bin Pengiran Haji Said, meanwhile, shared that the ceremony is one of the special and memorable occasions for the nation.
“It is a day where His Majesty spends his valuable time with the people in each district to celebrate His Majesty’s birthday.
“The participation of mukim and village consultative councils is significant in sharing the development as well updating activities carried out by mukims and villages,” he said.
