THE second Dakwah Academy (AD2.0), organised by the Da’ie Youth Association Committee of the Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI) in collaboration with the Youth Religious Programme (PKB) under the Ministry of Religious Affairs, officially opened yesterday at the PDI building in Kampong Pulaie.
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof was the guest of honour.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and selected verses from Al-Quran, which was followed with remarks from the Chairman of Da’ie Youth Ahmad Rashidi bin Haji Ansanawi.
In his speech, Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz said that the programme would help the participants to learn more about the principles and methods of preaching (Berdakwah) in accordance to the teachings of Al-Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
“The role of Dakwah is important, as it provides a positive impact in engaging with the community who hold fast to the teachings of Islam as a way of life,” he said. “It is challenging, however; it is also an indispensable obligation for every individual and community.
“Today, youth need to be exposed to an environment where it is acceptable to admonish one another or commanding good and forbidding evil, as mentioned in al-Quran (Amar Ma’ruf Mahy Munkar). This is so that people, particularly youth, can prevent themselves from the devastation of this world and in the hereafter.”
However, he also reminded the youth participants to abide by the country’s laws by first gaining approval from authorities such as the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB).
“These laws are not meant to restrict their abilities to preach, but rather as a driving force and a ‘passport’ for a Da’ie in delivering the truth, as it would gain the trust of the public, rather than being open to doubt,” he said.
“Be assured that if our youth are united in implementing their Dakwah through their respective fields and in accordance with the laws of this country, Insya Allah, we will become a nation filled with goodness under the care of a most merciful Lord (Baldatun Thayyibatun Wa Rabbun Ghafur).”
The speech was followed with the official launching of the Dakwah Academy 2.0 by Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz.
Later, there was an oath-taking ceremony for the 48 participants of the Dakwah Academy 2.0, who were successfully enrolled in the programme.
Under the theme ‘Generasi Pendakwah Muda, Pemangkin Ummah Rabbani’, the programme will run for six sessions from January to May, to raise awareness on the importance of delivering Islamic Dakwah in the correct way and to generate young Da’ie (preachers) who are capable of delivering da’wah in their respective fields.
The programme also aims at increasing awareness among members of the public on the establishment of Belia Da’ie Youth as a platform for youth to conduct their Dakwah activities.
The event concluded with the recitation of Doa Selamat led by Muhammad ‘Afif Aslam bin Jasmin.
Also in attendance were Director of PDI Ustaz Haji Abdul Rajid bin Haji Mohd Salleh; Acting the Deputy Director of PDI Ustaz Abdul Aziz bin Haji Abdul Kahar; Senior Religious Officer at PDI Ustaz Haji Ahmad Abdussalam bin Haji Abdul Rahman; and Head of the PKB Ustazah Hajah Siti Rahmah binti Haji Julaihi.
