Izah Azahari

The latest batch of participants in a training programme for public toilet cleanliness recently received certificates of completion recently at an event organised by the Tourism Development Department in cooperation with the SEAMEO Regional Centre for Vocational and Technical Education and Training (SEAMEO Voctech).

Acting Director of Tourism Development Department Salinah binti Haji Mohd Salleh presented certificates to eight participants from six government agencies and private companies.

Since 2021, a total of 108 individuals have participated in the training including owners, managers, supervisors and staff of places of interest in the country, including restaurants, stores, shopping malls, checkpoints, markets, restaurants and beaches. The training sought to provide knowledge of effective toilet cleaning procedures using best practices.

The training also taught participants to reduce pollution and maintain a cleaner, hygienic and safe public toilet environment for tourists and the public. Through this training programme, the Tourism Development Department hopes tourism service operators will always practice proper and effective hygiene care to ensure and maintain the country’s image of sustainable tourism.
