A letter of gratitude

When COVID-19 first struck the country in early 2020, it felt as if the whole world turned upside down.

However, under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and unity demonstrated by the government, private sector, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the people of Brunei, we were able to ride through the pandemic crisis together as one.

With the recent Covid-19 measures further easing the process, it further solidified to me that the worst of the pandemic has long passed on.

A dark chapter has closed; a new era has begun.

For this, as a member of the public, I would like to express from the bottom of my heart, my deep felt gratitude to all the agencies, companies, and individuals involved in safeguarding the public.

Above all, I like to thank His Majesty for his wise and benevolent leadership.

We would have not done it without our monarch’s caring and love for the people.

With COVID-19 behind us, it is time to set our sights for bigger challenges ahead.

Let us learn from the pandemic lessons and work to improve our general governance to be more participatory, especially in realising Brunei Vision 2035.

I have deep faith and confidence we can transform our country ahead as long as we can do it on a whole-of-nation approach. Insya Allah we can do it.

Grateful Bruneian
