In past titahs, His Majesty Sultan

Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin

Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan

Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul

Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-

Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has

urged Bruneians to implement Brunei

Vision 2035 with full commitment and

determination.

This vision aspires that by 2035, Brunei

Darussalam develops into a nation

which will be widely recognised for

the accomplishment of its educated

and highly skilled people measured by

the highest international standards;

quality of life that is among the top 10

nations in the world and a dynamic and

sustainable economy with income per

capita within the top 10 countries in

the world.

In a titah delivered during an

unscheduled visit to the Ministry of

Education (MoE) at the Old Airport

Berakas in mid-January this year,

His Majesty said, the MoE, one of the

biggest ministries in the government,

carries the mission of delivering

quality education to realise Brunei

Vision 2035.

In past titahs, His Majesty had urged

Bruneians not to let Brunei Vision

2035 be just intellectual rhetoric and

sound beautiful only when expressed

in words, but to implement it with full

commitment and determination.

His Majesty said the people should be

more agile to produce high results that

can contribute to progress and help

the nation realise the vision.

To realise this vision, the ruler also

called on the people to unite and not

disintegrate, and urged efforts made

are relevant, through consultation and

meet the current trend. And this is the

key to success of Brunei Vision 2035.

This requires the involvement of all

parties in the government and private

sectors through unity, understanding

and work as a team.

HisMajesty also said Brunei Vision 2035

is getting nearer and all parties should

intensify efforts towards realising

the vision. Achieving the aspiration

of Brunei Vision 2035 is not only the

responsibility of the government but

also requires the involvement of all

stakeholders, including the private

sector, grassroots leaders, associations

and everyone in the country.

His Majesty also consented to Brunei

Darussalam’s Economic Blueprint:

Towards a Dynamic and Sustainable

Economy to plan the country’s

economic direction towards achieving

the third goal of Brunei Vision 2035

which is a ‘Dynamic and Sustainable

Economy’, the Ministry of Finance and

Economy announced.

The blueprint aims to act as a guide to

align policies, strategies and initiatives

by the government and private sector

towards achieving the third goal of

Brunei Vision 2035.

The success of the Economic Blueprint

will help Brunei Darussalam to move

from a highly dependent oil and gas

economy to a dynamic and sustainable

economyprovidingmoremeaningfuland

high-value employment opportunities

for the people and harnessing the latest

technology in line with the Fourth

Industrial Revolution (4IR).

The preparation of the economic

blueprint has taken into account the

views and perspectives of stakeholders,

namely the government and the private

sector, through consultation sessions

which have been conducted.

In achieving the objectives, four main

macroeconomic goals are intended,

namely high and sustainable economic

growth which is not affected by any

economic uncertainties; economic

diversification which is to increase the

contribution of the Non-Oil and Gas

sector; macroeconomic stability which

is among others moderate inflation,

fiscal sustainability and trade surplus;

and low unemployment rate.

In ensuring that the goals will be

achieved, six aspirations have been

identified in the economic blueprint:

productive and vibrant businesses;

skilled, adaptable and innovative

people; open and globally connected

economy; sustainable environment;

high quality and competitive economic

infrastructure; and good governance

and public service excellence.

In achieving the aspirations, it is

important to adopt a collaborative

whole-of-nation approach involving all

parties. The private sector will serve

as the driving force of the country’s

economy and the government sector

will continue to play a role in facilitating

the success of the development of

the country. Investors in the country

and from overseas will have a role in

introducing new industries. Members

of the public and residents of Brunei

Darussalam must practice the culture

of

Berkarih, Bejarih, Belurih

.

Citizens across all sectors urged to accomplish Brunei Vision 2035

with full commitment and determination.
