THE Ministry of Defence (MinDef) and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) feted 79 intending Haj pilgrims in a Doa Kesyukuran ceremony at the Surau Al-Barakah, Rimba Air Force Base yesterday.
Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof was the guest of honour.
A total of 79 pilgrims including family members will embark on the Haj journey this year. Eleven are serving MinDef civilians, one MinDef civilian, 15 RBAF personnel and 21 RBAF retirees.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Surah Yaasiin led by Religious Teacher of Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) Pengiran Fakhrul Syakirin bin Pengiran Haji Zainuddin. This was followed by a religious talk titled Berjihad Dalam Mencapai Darjat Haji Mabrur delivered by Pengiran Haji Abdul Basit bin Pengiran Haji Zaini from Majlis Ta’lim Anwar Al Hudaa.
The guest of honour and his spouse, Datin Hajah Kalshom binti Haji Suhaili presented donations and gifts comprising medical supplies to the pilgrims, followed by a Doa Selamat read by Commander Ainolnizam bin Haji Ibrahim.
Commander of the RBAF Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Permanent Secretary at the MinDef Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Shahril Anwar bin Haji Ma’awiah; service commanders, deputy permanent secretary, commandants, civilian and military directors, senior officers and officers and staff from the MinDef and RBAF were also present.
