6th ADMM-Plus concludes, Vietnam takes over chairmanship

The 6th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus) concluded in Bangkok yesterday, marking the end of Thailand’s chairmanship of the ADMM this year.

Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof represented Brunei Darussalam at the 6th ADMM-Plus.

The Minister of Defence II with the ADMM and ADMM-Plus defence ministers also attended the opening ceremony of the Defence and Security Exhibition 2019 at the IMPACT Exhibition Centre, Pak Kret. They also attended an official luncheon and conducted a joint courtesy call on Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Kingdom of Thailand Prayut Chan-o-cha at the Government House, Bangkok.

During the 6th ADMM-Plus, the Minister of Defence II spoke on the expansion of the ASEAN Direct Communications Infrastructure (ADI) Phase 1 to Plus Countries where he noted that the concept paper on the ‘Expansion of the ASEAN Direct Communications Infrastructure (ADI) in the ADMM Process to Plus Countries’ had been adopted at the 13th ADMM which met in July 2019.

With the conclusion of the 6th ADMM-Plus, Thailand handed over the chairmanship of the ADMM to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the latter of which will be the ASEAN Chair in 2020.
