Fifty-seven retired officers and staff of the Ministry of Energy attended an appreciation ceremony, organised by the Human Resource and Corporate Division in collaboration with the Department of Electrical Services (DES) under the Ministry of Energy, at the Banquet Hall of the Prime Minister’s Office.
Minister of Energy Dato Seri Setia Mohd Dr Awang Haji Mat Suny bin Haji Md Hussein attended as the guest of honour.
Deputy Minister of Energy Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, Permanent Secretary (Energy) at the Ministry of Energy Haji Azhar bin Haji Yahya, and Deputy Permanent Secretary (Energy and Power) at the Ministry of Energy Pengiran Haji Jamra Weira bin Pengiran Haji Petra along with senior officials, officers and staff of the DES and Electricity Authority Negara Brunei Darussalam were also present.
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by welcoming remarks from Acting Director of Human Resource and Corporate Division and event Chairperson Siti Norashikin binti Mohd Salleh.
Siti Norashikin said the ceremony was aimed at recognising the contributions of the retirees during their tenures with the Government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
She added that retirement is not the finish line but part of the course of life as a servant of Allah the Almighty.
“The retirement will allow for programmes or activities that were previously limited due to time constraints. I hope they will use their free time more wisely, for the benefit of themselves, their families and the society,” she said.
