50.5 pc of children inoculated against COVID-19

Some 50.5 per cent of children aged five to 11 have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine while the coverage rate for the people who have been boosted against the coronavirus is 65.6 per cent.

The latest updates on the COVID-19 situation in the Sultanate were shared by the Ministry of Health through its official social media channels.

After two consecutive days of recording two-digit new COVID-19 cases, the number yesterday jumped back to three digits yesterday. Of the 103 new cases, 18 cases were from RT-PCR laboratory tests performed in the past 24 hours and 85 were reported results from antigen rapid testing.

No deaths from COVID-19 were recorded.

With the latest infections, the accumulative confirmed cases in the country stand at 142,079.

One case in Category 5 requires treatment in the intensive care unit and one case in Category 4 requires respiratory assistance and is under close monitoring.

Some 107 cases have recovered, bringing the total number of recovered cases to 141,288.

Meanwhile, the country currently has 573 active cases.
