5.8-magnitude quake hits Flores Sea, Indonesia

KUALA LUMPUR (BERNAMA) – A moderate earthquake, measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale, was detected in Flores Sea, Indonesia, at  9.20am yesterday.

According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), the quake occurred 228 kilometres northeast of Bima, Indonesia, at a depth of 616 kilometres.

However, it posed no tsunami threat to Malaysia.
