A total of 48 entries have been assessed at the judging week of the Crown Prince Creative, Innovative Product and Technological Advancement (CIPTA) Award 2021 during closed-door sessions from May 24-27.
The winners will be announced at the Award Presentation Ceremony tomorrow at Plenary Hall of the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas.
In the final stage, participants presented their inventions to a panel of judges, comprising 12 international and local judges from diverse academic backgrounds and industry experts. Inventions were assessed based on a set of criteria including novelty, originality or creativity of the work, potential for commercial application and contribution to the development of society, deployment of end product, full report and presentation.
Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman as Chairperson of the Crown Prince CIPTA Award 2021 said, “Alhamdulillah, despite the challenges due to the global pandemic, this year’s Crown Prince CIPTA Award 2021 has shown an increase in the number of entries from 41 in 2019 to 67. This year also shows the highest number of entries from the Smart Junior and ASEAN’s New Invention and Innovation categories.”
The award, in its ninth edition, is themed ‘Innovations for Society 5.0’, organised by UTB in partnership with Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd, as the main sponsor.
The Crown Prince CIPTA Award Competition aims to inspire the youth and public to develop creative products, processes or technology for national and ASEAN aspirations; to recognise and award creative talents in the country as well as at ASEAN level; and to motivate and instill the culture of science, engineering and technology to the youth and the public.
