47 distress calls on blown-off rooftops in three days

Brunei Darussalam continues to experience severe weather conditions and strong winds. In response, the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD) has issued a warning, while the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) has advised the public to stay safe by following the latest weather updates.

The FRD said it received 47 distress calls for blown-off rooftops in three days, an increase of 90.38 per cent since the start of the year.

From January to July 11 this year, the FRD recorded 52 emergency calls across the country, with the Brunei-Muara District logging the highest at 31 (60 per cent), Tutong at eight (15 per cent), Belait at 12 (23 per cent) and Temburong at one (two per cent).
