A total of 45 officers received certificates for completing the Intermediate Staff Course (ISC 22/2022) during the closing ceremony at the Defence Academy, Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF) yesterday.
The officers comprised 40 from the RBAF, one from the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) and four military officers from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.
Acting Commander of the RBAF Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Saifulrizal bin Abdul Latif was the guest of honour.
Acting deputy service commanders, military directors, director of operations from the RBPF, defence attachés and advisers from respective countries and RBAF officers were also in attendance.
The 14-week course, which began on September 5, was targetted at mid-level officers’ career development progression as general staff officers. It also aimed to improve professional skills, especially leadership and management, strategic studies, communication and presentation and the joint operations planning phase at the tri-service level. The course also included visits to local ministries, which gave the officers insights into their contributions, goals and initiatives to achieve Brunei Vision 2035.
A week-long overseas study tour to Kota Kinabalu was also included to provide participants with first-hand knowledge and experience on the history of war and security issues in the East Malaysian region.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates and awards by the guest of honour.
The overall Best Student Award and Best Commander RBAF’s Paper Award were awarded to Captain Isaac Chia Jia Le of the Singapore Armed Forces, while Best Service Paper Award went to 944 Captain (U) Mohammad Hazwan @ Abdul Haady bin Husny of the RBAF.
