41 cadets learn about firefighting

A TOTAL of 41 Fire and Rescue Cadets of the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) comprising 36 students, three from Student Affairs and two from EXCO Residential College participated in a Fire Marshal: In House Fire Drill Exam Programme yesterday.

The programme was organised by Core Education Centre of KUPU SB in collaboration with the Fire and Rescue Department which started on January 9, in which all participants took part in the fire marshal practical.

Dayangku Zainab binti Pengiran Haji Tuah, the Team Coordinator of Fire and Rescue Cadets of KUPU SB, said the programme aimed to further explore upon fire marshal courses as it is useful to ensure their safety and surroundings when there is a fire or an undesirable incident.

“It is very important for us as a community to know the techniques during a fire or emergency. During the three-day programme, the participants acquired knowledge that can be shared with others in colleges or institutions,” she said.

The programme aimed to identify vulnerabilities of alarm devices found in institutions, and help the cadets to monitor the effectiveness of fire alarms and fire extinguishers.

She also hoped the programme would be held among the community in the country as well as institutions and individuals to know and further understand the field of fire marshal.
