40th anniversary of Brunei-Oman ties celebrated

Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna with His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Sultan of the Sultanate of Oman.

Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs visited the Sultanate of Oman from 8 – 10 December 2024 to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Brunei Darussalam and the Sultanate of Oman, according to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On 9 December, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Sultan of the Sultanate of Oman received Her Royal Highness in audience at Al Barakah Palace.

During the audience, both sides highlighted the remarkable accomplishments made by both countries in the past 40 years, noting that the collaboration between the two countries has developed robustly across various areas of shared cooperation including in the fields of trade and investment, education and people-to-people exchanges.

In the evening, Her Royal Highness attended a dinner reception to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Brunei Darussalam and the Sultanate of Oman at Al Bustan Palace Hotel, Muscat co-hosted by the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam in Muscat, the Sultanate of Oman and the Foreign Ministry of the Sultanate of Oman.

Also present during the reception was Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi; Minister of Information of the Sultanate of Oman Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Harrasi; officials from both countries as well as Brunei nationals residing in the Sultanate. The reception, among others, featured cultural performances by Brunei Darussalam and the Sultanate of Oman.

During the visit, Her Royal Highness also visited The National Museum and the Royal Opera House Muscat.

Brunei Darussalam and the Sultanate of Oman formalised diplomatic relations on 24 March 1984. The two countries enjoy excellent cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, education, defence, and people-to-people exchanges.

Throughout the visit, Her Royal Highness was accompanied by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar.
