A HUGE Hari Raya celebration at Kampong Junjongan was held at the Junjongan Primary School Hall recently, with attendance of over 400 villagers, including the elderly and youth.
Held after Isyak prayer, the event was organised by the Village Consultative Council of Kampong Junjongan (MPK Junjongan), the Kampong Junjongan Mosque Takmir committee and Muslimah group along with the organisations such as Junjongan Primary School, Junjongan Religious School and Kampong Junjongan Women’s Association (PEWAJA).
The event started with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa by the Imam of Kampong Junjongan Mosque Haji Hayrul bin Haji Hakim, followed by a welcoming speech by Acting Village Head of Kampong Junjongan Haji Tamam @ Haji Ahmad Shah Tamami bin Haji Timbang, who thanked the collective Kampong Junjongan community, the school and the mosque authorities for making the Raya event a success.
The event also saw a singing performance by the MPK Junjongan and Kampong Junjongan Mosque Takmir committee members who sang the famous Selamat Hari Raya song by Ahmad Jais on stage. The mosque’s Muslimah group meanwhile sang Elly Mazlin’s Selamat Hari Raya.
The participants enjoyed a wide array of Malay traditional food and drinks contributed by village members.
A short slide show made by Junjongan Religious School was played, followed by a karaoke performance by the Junjongan Primary School students. This was followed by singing performances by PEWAJA members and Junjongan Primary School teachers, singing Siti Nurhaliza’s Nazam Lebaran and Sanisah Huri’s Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, respectively.
Village members were invited on stage to perform karaoke to further enliven the event. There was also the presentation of lucky draw prizes.
The event concluded with the group members and youth who participated in making the Raya event possible taking a group photo followed by a campaign to clean the school hall, further strengthening the village.
The celebration was held close to a month after its successful donation drive during Ramadhan where the village managed to collectively raise and distribute BND2,752 for 16 orphans in the village.
