Tourism Development Department of the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism and Laksamana College of Brunei (LCB) is organising the fifth and sixth Refresher Tourist Guide course from July 9-14 and from July 23-28 at LCB.
The course will be held for six days covering theoretical and practical training for 20 participants in each session.
Present at the course opening were Acting Director of Tourism Development Haji Zulzalani bin Haji Osman, and Director of Laksamana College of Business Haji Awang Suhaimei bin Haji Awang Besar.
The course, first introduced in 2019 aimed to strengthen the skills of tour guides and improving the quality of services as well as to ensure that the information relayed by tour guides is accurate and to open employment opportunities for locals especially the youth in the country.
The course is also a part of LCB corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme to help tourist guides in the country who are affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.
To date, 229 tourist guides registered at the Tourism Development Department have attended the course. A professional career as a tourist guide is very much needed in the tourism sector in this country.
Therefore, it is important for every licensed tourist guide to play an important role and task in ensuring that the information to be conveyed is accurate and easy to understand.
