40 learn more about scouting

THE Brunei Darussalam Scout Association through National Scout Training Team hosted a one-day General Information Course at its headquarters building at the Scout Complex, Jalan Gadong recently.

According to the course leader Haji Othman bin Durani, the aim of the course was to build interest of new scout members to become more active and knowledgeable scout leader in carrying out duties within their scout team.

Forty participants from the Rover Scout of Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) completed the course.

The participants attended seven sessions and among them were introduction on the mission and vision of scout, aim as well as benefits of scout and the history of scout.

In addition, participants were briefed on the national and global scout movement as well as the structure and division within the scout section. There was also a talk on the scout leader training scheme, awards and proficiency badge scheme and issues in the community.

The scout trainers involved included Training Commissioner Haji Mohd Taib bin Haji Osman; Youth Programme Scout Commissioner Junaidi bin Haji Hussin; Executive Scout Officer/Course Coordinator Zainudin bin Haji Ishak; Headquarters Scout Commissioner for Rover Scout section Hajah Nor Rahmat binti Sidin; Assistant Brunei-Muara District Scout Commissioner for Cub Scouts section Ritchie bin Siabu; Assistant Temburong District Scout Commissioner for Administration section Ronnie bin Siabu; and Assistant Belait District Scout Commissioner for Training section Mohammad Sharin bin Haji Suhaili.

The course concluded with a question and answer session and briefing on Study 1.

The guest of honour was Scout Chief Commissioner Haji Awang Badar bin Haji Awang Ali who presented the certificate in the closing ceremony.
