A crocodile measuring 4.5 metres was captured in the waterways of Haji Tari Primary School’s jetty in Kampong Tamoi yesterday, said the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD).
Five personnel led by ASO Haji Murni bin Haji Maidin were immediately dispatched to the scene, after receiving an alert at 6.25am.
The team used rope to capture the reptile, and handed it over to the Wildlife Division of the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) for further action.
The FRD advised members of the public to keep their surroundings clean, as crocodiles, snakes and monitor lizards are attracted to tall grass and rodents.
Homeowners are also advised to keep their doors and windows shut, to prevent wild animals from entering.
For fire and animal-related emergencies, contact the FRD at 995.
