A total of 38 staff members of Abdul Razak Holdings yesterday received certificates after completing a Fire Marshal training held earlier this month. The certificate presentation was held at The Centrepoint Hotel in Gadong.
Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) Acting Director and guest of honour Lim Hock Guan presented the certificates.
The recipients completed a three-day intensive training which included briefings and simulations, as well as team building exercises and activities.
Public Relations Officer of Operation ‘A’ Branch Station Officer Pengiran Haji Mohammad bin Pengiran Haji Tengah and Rostam Efandi bin Haji Matusin from the Public Relation Officers of the Operation ‘A’ Branch led the training.
The course consisted of theoretical training on prevention methods and knowledge. The participants were briefed on how to prevent the spread of fires and techniques on how to extinguish the fires.
They were also shown the various types of fire extinguishers and taught procedures of evacuating a building during a fire.
They also visited fire stations where they learnt how to roll/unroll and connect/disconnect a fire hose. Techniques included evacuating a dark building in Berakas, and how to rescue the injured.
The training equipped employees with the skills needed to improve safety measures, alertness and preparedness in dealing with emergency situations.
Acting Commanding Officer of Operation ‘A’ Branch Acting Senior Superintendent of FRD Pengiran Haji Asmali bin Pengiran Haji Ahmad, Head of Public Relations Section Assistant Superintendent of FRD Noorzali bin Apong, and Station Officer Pengiran Haji Mohammad also attended.
The FRD will continue to hold fire safety programmes such as the Life Saver 995 Briefing and Fire Marshal course to provide proper procedural knowledge in dealing with fire at work or at home.
