37 complete disaster training programme

The National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) concluded a disaster training programme for Year 9 students and teachers of Tanjong Maya Secondary School in the Tutong District yesterday.

A total of 35 students and two teachers participated in the two-day School Based Disaster Risk Management (SBDRM) programme at the school. The programme raised awareness on the risk and safety factors, as well as how to swiftly respond to a disaster.

Participants took part in a host of activities discussing the do’s and dont’s during and after a disaster and learnt how to formulate a plan of action.

Deputy Permanent Secretary (Safety and Welfare) at the Ministry of Home Affairs cum guest of honour Nor Hamidah binti Haji Hamidon awarded certificates to participants in the presence of NDMC Director Colonel (Rtd) Muhd Harrith Rashidi bin Haji Muhd Jamin, Acting Village Head of Kampong Tanjong Maya Yakub bin Haji Abdul Rahman, NDMC officers and Tanjong Maya Secondary School staff.

A group of students and teachers were schooled on how to operate when disaster strikes, courtesy of a training programme by the National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC).
