35 new Syariah lawyers receive certificates

A total of 35 newly registered Syariah lawyers received their certificates during a ceremony held Saturday at the Supreme Court and Syariah Courts building. The event, organised by the Syariah Court under the Judiciary Department of the Prime Minister’s Office, marked the admission of the lawyers for 2024.

Chief Syar’ie Judge Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Awang Haji Salim bin Haji Besar, officiated the event and presented the certificates.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and a doa led by Haji Abdul Muhaimin bin Haji Awang Damit, followed by welcoming remarks from Acting Chief Registrar of the Syariah Court of Appeal Pengiran Mohammaddin bin Pengiran Haji Aliakbar. The Chief Syar’ie Judge then delivered a keynote address.

As part of the event, the Chief Syar’ie Judge inaugurated the Syariah Legal Consultation Corner and the Syariah Lawyers’ Mailbox.

The Syariah Legal Consultation Corner provides a space for the public to seek legal advice on Syariah court matters, with services offered by registered law firms.

Its objectives include facilitating access to justice by guiding individuals through proper legal procedures; Enhancing service quality at the Syariah Court through collaborations with legal professionals and Promoting the role and services of Syariah law firms to the public.

Meanwhile, the Syariah Lawyers’ Mailbox, available on a subscription basis, aims to simplify correspondence between law firms and the Syariah Court.

The Syariah Court hopes these initiatives will improve public access to legal services and strengthen collaboration with law firms in delivering justice. – Fadley Faisal
