32 senior golfers join ASEAN amateur meet

Thirty-two local golfers representing the Brunei Darussalam Association of Senior Golfers (BDASG) left the country to participate in the 37th ASEAN Senior Amateur Golf Championship 2023 hosted by Senior Golfers’ Society of Singapore (SGSS) at the Singapore Island Country Club in Singapore starting today until March 1.

The contingent is led by BDASG President Pehin Orang Kaya Lela Pahlawan Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohd Jaafar bin Haji Abdul Aziz.

The tournament will be played in accordance with the rules of golf as approved by the R&A Limited and the local rules published by the organising committee.

Six participating countries will be competing for top honours including the Tun Sir Henry HS Lee Challenge Trophy which will be awarded to the team which records the lowest gross score over 54 holes while the team that returns the lowest nett score over 54 holes will be awarded the Zakir Challenge Trophy.

Teams will be setting their sights on the coveted Lela Pahlawan Overall Champions Challenge Trophy awarded to the team with the highest points total across various events.

Confederation of ASEAN Senior Golfers’ Association (CASGA) members is eligible to take part in the three-day meet.

President of Singapore Golf Association Tan Chong Huat is also expected to attend the opening ceremony.

The three-day event will conclude with a closing ceremony, prize presentation and gala dinner.

The BDASG members last participated in the previous edition of the tournament during the 36th ASEAN Senior Amateur Golf Championship 2019 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
