A total of 31 participants of the National Al-Quran Reading Competition for Adults for 1442 Hijrah have advanced to the semi-final stage of the contest.
The announcement was made by Chief Judge of the National Al-Quran Reading Competition for Adults for 1442 Hijrah Mohd Ali Sabri bin Haji Yussof during a ceremony at Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque in Kampong Jerudong yesterday.
Guest of honour, Acting Director of Mosque Affairs Haji Amir Hisham bin Haji Masri presented souvenirs to the judges as well as prizes and certificates to the participants.
The previous round was held from August 5-8 which saw 46 males and nine females participating.
Participants who obtained 80 per cent and above were selected to compete in the semi-final.
The competition aims to enhance the participants’ Al-Quran reading skills and to generate the public interest in learning the proper techniques of Al-Quran reading.
The competition is co-organised by the Imarah Division of Mosque Affairs Department with Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque Takmir Committee members.
