COVID death toll rises to 50
Three COVID-19 confirmed patients died in the past 24 hours, where one case, a 68-year-old man was confirmed to have died due to COVID-19 while the other two, a 67-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman succumbed to existing health problems, according to the Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Md Isham bin Hj Jaafar at a press conference.
The death toll for COVID-19 in the country climbs to 50.
187 new cases of COVID-19 were detected today, bringing the total number of cases to 11,047.
There are 30 additional new cases to 12 of the existing active clusters who were previously close contacts with several positive cases.
Only one new cluster has been detected, a residential cluster involving 3 cases.
Two clusters have been closed following no new detected cases in the clusters for 28 days. The closed clusters are 4401 Cluster and 4772 Cluster. Therefore, the current total active clusters are 169 clusters.
Meanwhile, 154 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of the infection.
197 cases have recovered today bringing the total number of recovered cases in Brunei Darussalam to 8,242 cases, whereas the total number active cases are 2,728 cases.
Among the cases being treated at the National Isolation Centre, five cases are in Category 5 and currently treated at the Intensive Care Unit. All of them require assistance of
artificial ventilation with two cases require the help of additional heart/lung machine (ECMO). Meanwhile, 30 cases are categorised in Category 4 that require oxygen assistance and are under close monitoring.
