The Belait District yesterday recorded its second fatal car crash in three days.
In yesterday’s incident, a 31-year-old local man was killed in a fiery car crash after hitting a tree early along the Lumut-Seria Bypass.
The Sungai Liang Police Station responded at 6.29am to a report of the collision at the 25.8km mark of the highway.
The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) said the man lost control of the vehicle, causing it to hit a tree and then overturn, before going up in flames.
The driver was extracted from the burning wreckage and taken to Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The RBPF appealed to motorists to keep within the speed limits and stay focussed when behind the wheel. Road users are also urged to cultivate a safety mindset to prevent traffic accidents.
