29 eateries found without halal certification

The Syariah Affairs Department, through the Halal Food Control Division, conducted an operation in Sengkurong recently.

Some 59 eateries were inspected and 29 were found to not have halal certification and were issued notices to apply within six months.

The department also reminded food businesses that having halal certification is mandatory. Food operators without permits are urged to apply immediately or risk a fine up to BND8,000 or imprisonment up to two years or both.

Meanwhile, holders of halal certificates and permits are reminded to ensure their documents are valid and to apply for renewal within three months before expiration. – Azlan Othman
