285 graduate from PPB

Two hundred and eighty-five graduates of the Youth Development Centre (PPB) consisting trainees received certificates on Monday in the morning and afternoon sessions of the PPB Convocation Ceremony at the Multipurpose Hall of PPB.

The trainees received certificates after completing their studies for the July 2018, January 2019 and July 2019 sessions in various courses.

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin presented certificates during the morning session while Permanent Secretary (Administration, Finance and Estate) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud presented certificates in the afternoon session.

The morning session began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Surah Asy-Syams, followed by welcoming remarks from the PPB Acting Director Fauziah binti Haji Mohd Salleh in her capacity as event chairperson.

Out of the total number of graduates, 102 graduates were from the July 2018 session, 89 from the January 2019 session, and 94 from the July 2019 session, where the morning’s session saw 151 graduates receiving their City & Guilds Level 1, 2 and Skills Proficiency certificates from January and July 2019 sessions, while afternoon saw 134 graduates receiving their City & Guilds Level 2, 1 and Skills Proficiency certificates from the January 2018 session and PPB Skills Certificate from July 2018, January and July 2019 sessions.

According to the acting director, an Oustanding Trainee Evaluation Committee has been established to evaluate and provide support for candidates and evaluation made by examining the list of best candidates.

“The awarding of this Outstanding Trainee Award is intended to be used as a motivation to the trainee graduates and trainees still attending courses to work harder and make more effort in the future to achieve the aspirations and dreams of becoming a ‘marketable’ youth in a society that can lead, being a good and patriotic Bruneian, be a Syumul youth, who will contribute to the nation and His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam,” added Fauziah.

The morning session also saw a speech by the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, followed by the certificate presentation ceremony, a video presentation and the Outstanding Trainee Award presentation to two graduates.

Meanwhile, the afternoon session began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by a certificate presentation ceremony, the presentation of Outstanding Trainee Award to one graduate and a video presentation.

Both the morning and afternoon sessions concluded with the recitation of Doa Selamat led by the PPB Surau Imam Md Khaizuran Amali bin Haji Kamsani.

The recipients consisted of those following the Level 2 Award Course in 2D Computer Aided, Level 1 Diploma Accident Repair Body, ITQ Level 1 for IT User, Level 1 Certificate in Food Preparation and Cooking/Skills Proficiency Certificate in Food Preparation and Cooking, Level 1 Certificate in Food and Beverage Service/Skills Proficiency Certificate in Food and Beverage Service, Level 1 Certificate in Engineering Fabrication and Welding Technology, Level 1 IVQ Certificate in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning/Skills Proficiency Certificate in Basic Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Skills Proficiency Certificate in Basic Plumbing, Skills Certificate in Computer Aided Design, Skills Certificate in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Skills Certificate in Domestic Plumbing, Skills Certificate in Fashion Technology, Skills Certificate in Beauty Therapy, Skills Certificate in Vehicle Repair and Skills Certificate in Culinary and Banquet Arts.

Three graduates also received the Outstanding Trainee Award for the July 2018, January 2019 and July 2019 sessions. The Outstanding Trainee Award for the July 2018 session went to Muhammad Wazien bin Shahrin from the Skills Proficiency Certificate in IT for Office Application/Level 1 Certificate in IT Users course, while Siti Nur Zaimah binti Zaini from the Skills Proficiency Certificate in Plumbing course received the award for the January 2019 session, and Abdul Mushawwir @ Asrul bin Haji Kamis from the Skills Proficiency Certificate in IT for Office Application/Level 1 Certificate in IT Users for the July 2019 session.
