The Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) held a Publisher-Author agreement signing ceremony for 27 writers at the DBP Sarmayuda Hall yesterday.
DBP Acting Director Suip bin Haji Abdul Wahad was the guest of honour. DBP Acting Deputy Director, Acting Head of the Book Planning Section Nurhalimatusyahirah binti Mudim Haji Matassim and guests also attended. The ceremony began with the singing of the national anthem and recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat.
Suip said, “DBP supports the development of creative and innovative writing, although writing is facing the challenge of the digital revolution era. These barriers do not impede the creative industry as I believe authors will always provide good ideas and thoughts that can empower the community.”
As part of efforts to enhance cooperation with authors, DBP has implemented a new initiative, the Self-Funded Printing Cost. The initiative aims to further enhance DBP’s publishing capacity, especially to speed up the book publishing process.
The service has been well-received by the authors, and positively impacted the collaborations between the publisher and authors. DBP is to implement the workflow processes of the service in four months.
