Baker Hughes organised a tree planting event yesterday as part of the company’s annual corporate social responsibility initiative to give back to the community and promote care for local and natural environment.

Held in collaboration with the Forestry Department, the event saw over 50 officers and staff planted 260 sapling at the surrounding area near the department at Kampong Sungai Liang.

Baker Hughes SEA HSE Manager Abdul Khalid bin Haji Jalil was present, joined by Forestry Officer Miza Farzana binti Abdul Ghani.

Abdul Khalid said the activity aimed at raising awareness on the importance of caring for the local environment, while helping offset the carbon footprint of the company following the construction of its new facility in Kuala Balai.

“Many of the trees that were cleared (at the new facility in Kuala Balai), we compensated by planting not only the same amount, but also an additional number of saplings here today to offset out carbon footprint on the environment,” he said.
